A pesky raccoon has trashed my water table a few times this past week, and toppled my dewy pines, also know as Drosophyllum. They are a unique genus that contains only one species, Drosophyllum lusitanicum. These are hard to grow and don't do well if you disturb the roots in any way, so unfortunately one of them died this week. Somehow, the raccoon seems to go for the rare plants (cobra lilies too). My friend Curtis gave these to me, raccoons have killed two of them, a squirrel dug up one of them, and now I have one left 😬. I really hope I can get this one to flower and make seed so I can propagate more.
